These are some things that will help a believer on The Day of Judgement insha'Allah:
1st: The belief in Allah, declaring the Shahada-this weighs very heavily on the scales of the day of resurrection. So never underestimate thikr. Any free moment we have, we should mention them. -We honestly have so much free time on our hands, even if it's for a matter of minutes or seconds. Think about the time you're waiting for that stop light to turn green, while waiting for the commercials to end on tv, waiting for sleep to come, time we waste just browsing the internet..etc, etc
In an authentic hadith reported by Imam Ahmad and At-Tirmithi that messenger of Allah said: "Allah will select a man of my nation among all his creation in the day of judgment, and he shows him ninety-nine files. Each file as long as eye's sight then Allah says to him: "Do you object any thing of this?" "Did the registrars of the deeds miswrote", the man says: "No Lord", Allah then says to him: Do you have any excuse, the man says: "No lord" Allah says: "Yes, you have a good deed. A card emerges written on it: I witness that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger, Allah says to him: Bring your weight (meaning the bad deeds) the man says: O lord, what can this card do with these books. Allah says: "You will not be oppressed, then the books are placed in one side of the scale and the card in the other side of the scale, and the card would out weight the books. The prophet said: The name of Allah would out weight any thing."
2nd: Good manners (believe it or not)-Abu Darda' reported that the Prophet of Allah (PBUH), said, "Nothing is weightier on the Scale of Deeds than one's good manners." (examples: truthfulness, respect for others, piousness for parents, chastity.. all these, and much more, will help us enter Jannah insha'Allah)
Abu Huraira, (R.A.), said that the Prophet of Allah, (PBUH), said, "If one has good manners, one may attain the same level of merit as those who spend their nights in prayer." (SubhanAllah)
Remember: Surat Al An'am, Aya 160: "Whoever brings a good deed (Islamic Monotheism and deeds of obedience to Allah and His Messenger ) shall have ten times the like thereof to his credit, and whoever brings an evil deed (polytheism, disbelief, hypocrisy, and deeds of disobedience to Allah and His Messenger ) shall have only the recompense of the like thereof, and they will not be wronged."
3rd: Abu Hurairah (R.A.) reported: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “There are two statements that are light for the tongue to remember, heavy in the Scales and are dear to the Merciful: `Subhan-Allahi wa bihamdihi, Subhan-Allahil-Athim [Glory be to Allah and His is the praise, (and) Allah, the Greatest is free from imperfection)'.'' [Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
Furthermore: Rassulullah (pbuh) said, “Whoever says, ‘Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi,’ one hundred times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea. (Bukhari)
BEWARE: Some people do good deeds, but their deeds have little weight on the day of judgement, don't be one of them!
Almura’oon (those who did their deeds just to show off), will be the first people to be chastised on the Day of Judgment.
Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) warned us agaist this type of behavior:
Imam Muslim reported that the prophet (S.A.W.) say: "The first person whose case will be adjudicated on the Day of Judgment, will be a martyr. He will be called and shown all the bounties which have been granted to him. He will recognize them (He will admit that he did have them) and then will be asked: what use did you make of the bounties? He will say: I carried on Jihad (fighting) in the cause till I was martyred, Allah will tell him: You are lying: you fought so that you might be known as brave man: And in fact you were known as such. It will be decided that he should be dragged on his face and thrown into Hell. Next will be brought a man who had acquired knowledge and had studied the Qur’an. He will be shown the favors bestowed on him and will recognize them and will be asked: How did you use them? He will say. 'I acquired Knowledge and taught it to others and read the Qur’an for The Pleasure. He will be told: 'you are a liar. Your acquired knowledge only to be called a learned person and you read the Qur’an so that you might be called a Qari (reader), and so you were called. As per divine judgment he will also be dragged on his face and thrown into Hell. Then he will also be dragged on his face and thrown into Hell. Then another man will be brought forward on whom Allah the most High will have granted him all kind of wealth and property in abundance. He will also be shown the favors bestowed upon him, which he will recognize. He will also be shown the favors bestowed upon him, Which he will recognize. He will be asked: 'How did you use them'? He will say: I spent them in all the ways they approve; and I spent them in all these ways so as to win the pleasure. He will be told: you are lying; you did all that you might be called a generous person and you were called as such. It will then he ordered that he may be dragged to Hell."
In conclusion as Omar (R.A.) used to say: "Judge yourself before you are judged and weigh your deeds before they are weighed for you"
